I really hate school, guys.

Sorry I’ve been MIA on this whole thing. ><

But has anyone found anything else that they’d like to bring to light?

I’ve been saddled with three essays and a test and school has barely started. GAH.

LU and CU

I’m seeking evidence of their stalking and harassment, as well as those who have filed complaints to FFN’s admins, so that I can continue to build a case for the Better Business Bureau. Also, due to the fact that FFN’s servers and ISP are in California, there are stringent harassment laws in effect there that could get FFN’s servers shut down. So, back up your stories offsite if you haven’t.
LU and CU both violate FFN’s Terms of Use/Service, just as much as authors who post stories and sections that contain ‘banned’ items such as MA, real person, interactive, etc.

As such, beyond backing your things up, consider moving to AO3. Yes, there is a waitlist, but it is a viable option. There is also DreamWidth, which is the heir to LiveJournal, which works well enough as a temporary holding stage.

For victims and those who have reported to FFN the practices of LU and CU, please contact me, especially if you have screencaps of messages. This will better enable us to argue our case to not just the BBB, but to FFN itself.

Thank you,

- Rhion

Leaving caustic reviews vs. making fun of fanfiction.

A friend of mine brought up a good point to me the other day (she doesn’t tumblr, but she does read fanfiction). A lot of us are on WTFanfiction and other sites where bad fanfiction is made fun of, and I personally enjoy seeing what clever commentary people can give the bad ones. Before this whole thing, I never truly thought about the parallels between this and leaving nasty reviews.

So, discussion sort of thing, I guess?

What do you guys think the difference is?

Report abusive reviews on fanfiction

There is a place to report abusive reviews.  But ONLY report abuse reviews, and report WHY they are abusive. If we just report everyone calling themselves Literate Union, we’ll be ignored.  However, in the story where a reviewer asked if the writer was pregnant, I reported 2 of the reviewers.  A couple of the reviewers gave decent feedback.  I found it pretty bad when I had to report the co-founder, though.

I refer you guys to the below post.

There’s no way they can say we don’t have proof now.

FF.net and Fictionpress Strike

Sorry for the late update, guys - I’ve been a bit sick this week. Ugh.

But anyway, I was informed that some members of FF.net did not visit the site at all on June 23rd. I thought - this could possibly be a thing done every month or so, if we can get enough people to just not visit the site. It’d be a strike against FF.net’s unfair purges and Critics United at the same time.

Thoughts?

tvorceskiy asked: I just have a quick obsrvation; everyone seems to forget that this 'purge' also affects original fiction housed on FictionPress. While it is not my place to say whether or not fanfiction is less important than original or original is less important than fanfiction it still unnerves me that people are forgetting that FictionPress is also being purged. People are losing original thoughts and ideas and pain staking hours of creation there as well.

Strangely enough, I wasn’t aware of Fictionpress’s purge until you said something. Perhaps people are paying more attention to Fanfiction.net because it’s got a lot more beginner writers on it? It’s just a theory - when I was younger, Fictionpress to me looked like “professional writers only”. Of course, this wasn’t the case, but it’s how I thought, and it’s why I went to Fanfiction.net because it seemed less ‘serious’ and more ‘let’s have fun’. Hopefully that makes sense?

A blog dedicated to the discussion and possible tearing down of the FF.net community known as Critics United.
